Record Collector
Oct. 1989
Record Collector's The 2-Tone Story coincided with the compilation album release of the same name and was the first (albeit dissappointing) attempt in the music press to compile a discography of the label with notes and valuations. The article opens with a one-page summary of this "Collection of great bands, musicians and characters." The article highlights the value of the paper labels versus the plastics, and part 1 closes with the Do Nothing single release, while mentioning the 1987 Old Gold rehashes of several 2-Tone hits.
Also of note in this issue is an article on The Fine Young Cannibals which features a decent discography of The Beat and Roland Gift's excursions with The Akrylykz.
